Inspired by the epic musical in the long-running dark comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the band Portugal recently covered Day Man in concert.
The Day Man cover is a mellower version than the original version performed by Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton. Despite its new indie electronic sound, the song still has its iconically cheesy lyrics about fighting the Night Man, championing the sun, karate mastership and wide-spread friendship. While the It's Always Sunny version is undoubtedly interesting, it as an impressively obscure song choice to cover.
Portugal performed the song live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre as part of the Honda Civic Tour. In an effort to create a new platform that allows people to share and discover new music, Honda had Portugal headline the tour.
