Inflatable Surveillance Drones

The daS10 is an Inflatable Fixed-Wing Aircraft Drone

The daS10 is an inflatable fixed-wing aircraft drone developed by French aerospace startup Celeste Ecoflyers for long-endurance surveillance and inspection missions. The unmanned aircraft features an 8-metre pressurised textile envelope with a pneumatic wing that generates aerodynamic lift through its inflated structure, reducing energy consumption during flight. The deflatable design allows the aircraft to be folded flat for transport and rapid deployment, while recent low-altitude flight tests have advanced the project toward further development.

The drone is being designed to cruise at speeds of up to 50 mph for more than 10 hours while carrying payloads of up to 11 pounds. The aircraft is intended for applications including pipeline, energy grid and disaster-area monitoring, offering an alternative to helicopters and conventional fixed-wing inspection aircraft. Additional flight testing is scheduled for the fourth quarter as development continues.

Inflatable Aviation Platforms
Pressurized textile airframes create lightweight, collapsible aircraft formats that can lower transport costs and expand rapid-deployment monitoring capabilities.
Long-endurance Inspection Drones
Extended flight times paired with moderate payload capacity support persistent infrastructure surveillance as a lower-cost alternative to piloted aircraft.
Portable Fixed-wing Uavs
Fold-flat drone designs introduce new possibilities for field teams needing compact aerial systems that can be deployed quickly in remote or disrupted environments.

Industries Being Reshaped

Aerospace
Novel pneumatic wing structures signal opportunities for aircraft manufacturers to rethink materials, energy efficiency and deployability in unmanned flight.
Energy Utilities
Pipeline and grid operators could benefit from persistent aerial inspection systems that reduce reliance on helicopters and improve coverage of distributed assets.
Disaster Response
Compact long-duration surveillance drones provide emergency agencies with adaptable tools for situational awareness across damaged, inaccessible or rapidly changing areas.
