Ellen Smith — January 27, 2018 — Marketing
Barbie's image is constantly changing, but after collaborating with Helmut Lang's digital editor, Ava Nirui and Stray Rats, the iconic doll may have undergone its most drastic transformation yet, with a Streetwear-inspired, custom Barbie collection.
The edgy line consists of 30 different dolls, all fashioned in miniature iterations of Stray Rat pieces. Cleverly dubbed 'Ratgirls' this collection deviates from the traditional standards of beauty and femininity to offer something that's not only unique, but reflective of the shift in the fashion industry. The dolls are outfitted in traditional streetwear motifs, including, sleek cat-eye shades, leather pants, baggy motorcross-inspired garments, fanny packs and plenty of layering.
Each one-of-a-kind doll from this limited-edition range will be sold separately.
