This Corten steel residence in Seattle immediately captures the attention of passers-by due to its interesting shape, as well as the material which effortlessly stands out in the background of neighboring houses. The structure was "designed, funded, and built" by local American architecture studio Hybrid. The project was called Oak & Alder, and it was intended to help densify the neighborhood—an important act, especially as more and more people continue to move to the city, and there is a perceivable lack of housing.
For Hybrid, this Corten Steel residence, which includes two volumes, acts as a multi-family home. Both volumes are equipped with gabled roofs and the windows are positioned beautifully to allow for an influx of natural light, as well as an aesthetically pleasing exterior.
