The Caju House is a minimalist family residence in Teton Village, Wyoming, designed by CLB Architects and set into a forested slope with views over the surrounding valley. The home’s exterior is clad in weathered Corten steel, a material that develops a warm, orange patina over time and references its name, which derives from a Brazilian fruit of similar color. The structure sits elevated on slender supports so that parts of the building hover above the steep terrain, minimizing site disturbance and preserving existing trees and boulders.
The two-story layout places social spaces such as the living room, kitchen, and dining area on the upper level to maximize views, while practical program elements including a garage, mudroom, and gym occupy the lower level. Interior finishes include larch wood for wall and ceiling surfaces and concrete floors, creating a restrained palette that contrasts with the robust steel shell. A perforated stainless steel staircase visually connects the levels and admits light throughout the interior.
