Morphed Men Sculptures

This Chie Aoki Collection is Shockingly Imaginative

Judging by this surreal series of sculptures, Chie Aoki is an artist with an endless imagination. Chie Aoki has created a collection of sculptures that are extremely memorable. This series embraces the theme of metamorphosis -- or figures transforming into something else. Although metamorphosis is most commonly related to butterflies, these sculptures are definitely not flighty. Each one depicts the bottom half of a human being, beginning at around their pelvis, the figure begins morphing into a blob-like creature or worm.

These sculptures are frightening, but thought-provoking. I'm curious as to whether Aoki believes humans are transforming into blobs or whether blobs have evolved into human beings.

Either way, this collection of Chie Aoki human-blob sculptures will stick in your mind for quite some time.
