Metsä Board & Esbottle Created a Concept That's Lightweight & Recyclable

Some of life's special moments are made all the more enjoyable with champagne but the experience can feel cheapened with a plastic flute—so Metsä Board and Esbottle teamed up to create a paperboard champagne flute concept as a more sustainable alternative to plastic disposables. The lightweight and recyclable solution actually consists of two pieces, a cup and a base, that can be stored inside one another for easy transportation.

Now, Metsä Board and Esbottle are researching different materials and continuing to explore the potentials of its eco-friendly paperboard cup design. As well as helping to reduce waste, the paperboard flutes have the chance to inspire more customization and creativity, as their designs could be changed to suit a range of specific occasions.
