France launched a competition for the Notre Dame cathedral rebuild and ideas have been steadily pouring in for consideration. Belgium-based visualization studio Miysis envisions a quaint, mindfully oriented idea that features the ambition for a publically accessible roof garden. However, "the concept is meant to be a personal meditation on the building" and will not be entered into the competition.
The proposal is noteworthy to look at, however. It harbors some ties to modern architectural movements. For example, the firm recreated the lost spire — one that was constructed out of wood, to feature materials that will evoke a contemporary aesthetic — glass, steel, and timber. Moreover, the combination of greenery and a roof that reveals a sky will likely have a positive effect on visitors.
