'Candid Catmera' is the name of a new app from Current Studios that makes it possible for pets to take their own cat selfies. But in addition to being a fun photography tool to pets, this app also serves as a fun way for pet owners to check in with their cats when they are away from home.
The app is notes that it is designed to "Seduce. Snap. Share," by first encouraging cats to come close to a tablet with an alluring animation. Some of the on-screen animations include visuals of laser pointers, mice scurrying across the screen, as well as soothing aquarium scenes. Once a cat's attention has been captivated, Current Studios describes that "when Catmera detects a cat in the photo at home, you will get a notification and can view the images in the gallery with the option to share them on social media."
The iOS app costs $1.99 to download, but $1 from each purchase benefits the SPCA of Halifax, Nova Scotia—where Current Studios has an office location.
