Carry the Kettle Nakoda First Nation (CTK) recently announced plans for a 300-acre development in northwest Regina. The new project is designed to support economic reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples by saving money for future generations.
The currently empty land will include residential neighborhoods with houses, an Indigenous cultural center that houses a casino, hotel, care home, and gathering space, a truck stop, and commercial businesses. The development is expended to progress over the next two decades. The project was inspired by other First Nations groups across the province who established similar developments.
Sean Spencer, CTK councilor, said this opportunity would bring prosperity to their community. He stated: “It’s going to be a diverse community that’s going to bring economic development, that’s going to increase the networking between communities."
