Images of David and Goliath, the sacrifice of Isaac, Saints, Cherubs and more gives the cardboard box design series by Dylan Shields a mystical and spiritual feeling.

Using crafting materials that can be found in the trash or recycling bin, Shields manipulates garbage into moving pieces of biblical history, sculpting famous spiritual scenes out of recycled paper. Most of the cardboard remains as-is with no paint covering up the logos or tape that is holding the pieces together. By leaving the raw materials untouched, the artist shows that spirituality and beauty can be found anywhere, even in the discarded packaging found in dumpsters.

These sculptures are so detailed that, from afar, the cardboard box design sculptures look like they have been carved out of clay.
