As of today, Facebook has officially launched its new Canvas platform. Although the ad platform has been in the works for the past year, now advertisers will officially be able to use the tool to create more eye-catching Facebook ads.
The Canvas platform was created as a way to help advertisers create media-rich, full-screen ads that will load instantly in the Facebook app. Prior to Canvas, Facebook ads viewed from a mobile phone needed to load and open in a separate in-app web browser. This meant that the ads loaded extremely slowly and they could never be viewed full-screen by the user.
Canvas provides a solution to previous issues by allowing brands to drag and drop content to create code-free ads. These advertisements will then appear instantly and users will be able to view them in full-screen mode. As Facebook's research has shown, these types of ads are far more engaging to consumers using the mobile app.
