Living Structure-Based Pavilions

The Picoplanktonics is This Year's Canada Pavilion

During this year's Venice Architecture Biennale, Picoplanktonics is the new Canada Pavilion. It is defined by alien-like structures that sequester carbon coming from shallow pools. It is carefully curated by Living Room Collective, which wanted to highlight how the built environment can be grown to help the earth rather than continue to add more negative impacts as a whole.

Living Room Collective member, Clayton Lee speaks about the design project to Dezeen, "The ramifications of these structures we made won't be seen for decades or even centuries, because of how slow the scope is. Architecture is often about making things easier, faster, cheaper for the human, and we're actually thinking about the opposite – how do we as humans have a responsibility to the earth, and how do we properly take care of it?"
