In response to the fact that many people simply do not eat enough fruits and vegetables, CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, created a broccoli powder. The powder is made with "ugly" broccoli stalks, which are ground down into a fine powder that is packed with fiber and vitamins B6 and E. The versatile product has the potential to be added to everything from smoothies and baked goods, and one cafe in Melbourne is even experimenting with adding it to coffee.
Commonfolk Coffee Company is now sharing its nutrient-rich "broccoli latte," which provides one serving of broccoli with every two tablespoons of powder.
The broccoli powder is an unassuming product that is helping to nourish consumers, as well as reduce food waste, offer cafes unique menu items and support local farmers.
