Here's hoping Bridgestone airless tire technology goes from concept to reality sometime very soon. Bridgestone recently debuted their concept tires, designed without air and to never go flat, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The tires have an unusual yet eco-friendly design that is sure to please both motorists and environmentalists.
Bridgestone airless tire technology features some complicated design to say the least. Essentially, Bridgestone's new tire would look like a massive honeycomb and feature spokes made out of recycled thermoplastic resin. The tire would be able to keep rolling even if it were slashed or punctured as it would not have any air to lose. The number of tires thrown away everyday is staggering to say the least, and if companies like Bridgestone could develop airless tires it could go a long way in making the world a greener place.
