The Bookchair was designed by Cass Saldanha as a multifunctional piece that serves as both a stool and a stand for displaying an open book. Standing 18 inches high, the design emphasizes geometric proportions and exposed structural elements inspired by the work of architect Lina Bo Bardi. The piece is constructed from solid white oak and European walnut, with an oak disc joining the three angled legs to distribute structural loads while reinforcing the composition's symmetrical form. Its sculptural profile allows books to remain open and on display when not in use.

The stool incorporates four 1/3-inch brass rods at key joints to improve structural stability without concealing the construction. Each surface is hand-finished with natural oils that preserve the wood's grain and matte appearance. Rather than separating decorative and functional elements, the design integrates seating, book display, and structural detailing into a single object.
