MTV's Emography Bold Fonts Makes Messages More Expressive

Sometimes it can be difficult to express your feelings accurately with just text, since tone can so easily be misconstrued. With this in mind, MTV Mobile created bold fonts that make their messages very, very clear.

The MTV Emography Project created by FCB Zurich involves a Facebook app where people can type a message to a friend. There are eight different typographic choices to make, which are meant to convey far more emotion that you'd normally get from a plain font. For example, a font made from confetti expresses surprise, while sadness is represented in a typeface made from actual tears. These messages are played out in video format and if you're feeling pretty angsty, one outrageous font to send to a friend is spelled out with a middle finger.
