The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival started as a group with a passion for all things bacon, which eventually grew into an annual festival to which thousands of people flock to celebrate this delicious meat. The Bacon festival’s popularity has soared in recent years, with 8000 tickets being sold in just over three minutes this year.

The festival this year took place on Feb 9 at Iowa State Fairgrounds. There was a lot bacon to choose from, including unique concoctions like bacon gumbo and chocolate bacon tarts. One building even had an Iceland theme with Viking and Iceland bacon dishes to honor a group of Icelandic delegates. There were also events like the eating competition and lectures about bacon.

As strange as it all seems, the festival is well-loved by thousands of people, as evidenced by the enthusiasm that could be seen at the venue. Referred to as a ‘bacon fellowship,' it’s a good time for folks to take a break and enjoy themselves in the best way possible: with some bacon.
