Greatly fascinated by abandoned buildings, photographer Sophia Germer, who is born and bred in New Orleans, Louisiana, captures the beauty in decay in her latest series of photos.
Renting a car, the photography student who is currently studying in the San Francisco Art Institute, along with her father, embarks on a journey of fun and adventure as the duo visits several abandoned sites in the city in Michigan.
The series of pictures highlights the common sight of dilapidated buildings and abandoned construction sites, from the vandalized, graffiti-painted walls, abandoned furniture pieces and construction materials to paint peeling off the wall, oxidized metal and discolored mural. These Sophia Germer pictures show the beauty in destruction and exude a nostalgia for what once was.
