Schlafly Beer is Enhancing Its Brewery Bar Technology with Beacons
Laura McQuarrie — April 13, 2016 — Marketing
Beacons are now becoming popular additions to everything from retails stores to museum environments, but consumers hardly expect them to be playing a role in advancing bar technology.
In Schlafly Beer's craft brewery in St Louis, Missouri, there are beacons attached to beer taps that reveal information on drink specials, tasting notes, campaigns and new releases. These Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 'Tap Talker' beacons are set to be extremely disruptive in the beer industry, especially since they facilitate a new way for consumers to interact directly with a favorite brand or product at the bar. As well as elevating the drinking experience, this technology opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for marketing drinks that are available on tap.
