Playfully Floating Seats

The Balloon Chair by h220430 is Inspired by a 1953 French Film

While some people might like to think that the Balloon Chair was inspired by the beloved 2009 Disney movie 'Up,' it was in fact inspired by a French film from the early '50s, 'The Red Balloon.' The armchair version of the original bench, the Balloon Chair just as whimsical, perhaps even more so due to its sole adventurist appeal.

The Balloon Chair was designed by Japanese furniture design firm h220430. Although made out of relatively heavy materials, leather and steel, the playful seat appears to levitate with the help of a bunch of matching helium-filled balloons. In reality, the Balloon Chair has been mounted onto the wall to create the fanciful effect.

The fun Balloon Chair is set to make its debut at Milano Fuori Salone in Italy this month.
