Aesthetically Pleasing Bakery Interiors

URBANJOBS Completes the Design for ORIGAMI

URBANJOBS has designed ORIGAMI, a 160 square meter bakery interior at Tersane Istanbul. This project translates the layered structure of a croissant into an architectural system of repetition, depth, and sectional articulation.

URBANJOBS employed various design decisions to achieve the sophisticated aesthetic of the bakery interior. For example, the firm used custom shelving units as a continuous wall datum with integrated lighting that illuminates products from beneath. The frameless glass vitrines and sharp junctions between materials eliminate visual noise, allowing the product to remain the undisputed focus.

The space wraps its perimeter in deep-toned, high-gloss ceramic tiles that create a reflective envelope, while a central monolithic island made of pale patterned stone functions simultaneously as display, service counter, and spatial anchor. A perforated ceiling grid, on the other hand, conceals technical infrastructure.
