Joe Blake’s Holborn Unveils Sculptural Minimalism to a Central London Café

Joe Blake’s Holborn is a coffee shop interior in London designed by the architecture and interiors studio EBBA. The space is defined by a restrained material palette and a highly controlled use of form and light. A poured concrete counter anchors the room and is paired with stainless steel surfaces and pale plaster walls. Built-in seating and perimeter benches follow the geometry of the narrow plan, guiding circulation from the entrance toward the preparation zone at the rear.

Lighting is integrated into ceiling recesses and under counter edges to create soft illumination without visible fixtures. Timber elements are limited and used selectively to soften the surrounding mineral finishes. Storage and service areas are kept visually concealed to maintain a quiet spatial composition. The design focuses on proportion, surface continuity and material contrast rather than decorative detailing to define the café experience.
