AZL Architects developed and brought to life an interesting concept for a porcelain factory. The building is located in Qiancheng — a village in China. Crafted from concrete, the silhouette of the structure is meant to reflect its functionality.
AZL Architects has intended to mimic "the monumental, egg-shaped kiln." While the materials used for construction introduce a raw, bare aesthetic, the cacoon-like structure brings about a level of intimacy. The double-height ceilings create a sense of space, as well. The porcelain factory is erected amid "a bamboo forest in a mountainous area" and it is dedicated to preserving traditional modes of craftsmanship in an era when technology is dominating production and the swift human touch is under threat of becoming obsolete.
