American Airlines Plans Its Largest Admirals Club in Charlotte

American Airlines is expanding its Charlotte Admirals Club lineup with a mezzanine-level lounge that offers connecting passengers a quieter place to shower, eat and wait above the airport atrium. Planned as the carrier's largest Admirals Club, it will cover more than 40,000 square feet and is expected to open in 2028. Work starts this year.

Shower suites and several bars are built in, along with dedicated areas for working or unwinding, so the stop can feel less like overflow seating and more like a real reset. The interior also draws on Charlotte's tree canopy and textile roots, and American's current airport lounge locations will remain available while construction continues.

For travelers, this means Charlotte connections could become easier to choose, especially at a hub where lounge access has not always provided a break from the crowd. A club this large also helps American make the airport feel closer to the polished premium experience it wants frequent flyers to associate with the brand.
