Alexander Heilner's inspiration for his aerial landscape photo series comes from the result of melding together the artificial and natural. When on the ground, it is difficult to distinguish this distinction, but from an aerial point of view, Heilner shows us the stunning contrast.
Heilner's photographs also remind us that incredible urban and suburban design and construction is extremely complex and structured. Taken from the point of view of an airplane, the pictures provide viewers with an alternate perception of the space we inhabit. Also, the juxtaposition of sand and water against man-made structures further reinforce Heilner's artificial and natural dichotomy.
Heiler's curiosity of the visual impact of land use has taken him to eight US states, as well as the United Arab Emirates.
