Mirror-Sheathed Art Depot Buildings

This Dutch Art Depot's Facade is Laden With Reflective Glass

Dutch architecture and urban design firm MVRDV have unveiled a truly spectacular and eyecatching new project in the form of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, a public art depot that uses an unabashedly generous number of mirrored elements across its facade.

The massive facade takes up over 70,000 square feet of space that in turn comprise 1,664 mirror panels. As far as its interior is concerned, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen offers 167,000 square feet of space which is used to showcase a diverse array of paintings, installations, sculptures and other artefacts.

Located in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, this particular art depot building uses a curvaceous design to manage to provide a truly capacious and spectacularly large space without taking up substantial acreage in the park that it's situated in, making it a fine example of modern architecture that makes efficient use of space through eyecatching design.
