Ear Damage-Alerting Apps

The Apple Noise App Protects Users from Hearing Damage

The Apple Noise app will be coming to the Apple watch in fall 2019, the app is designed to alert users to excessive noise in their environment which can lead to hearing damage. The app was announced at WWDC 2019 and will only be available for WatchOS. This move builds upon previous Apple fail safes that users can access to ensure they do not expose themselves to excessive damage, Apple has previously featured an option to limit volume output on its mobile devices.

Using the watch's microphone, the app can measure decibels that the user is being exposed to, and users will get notifications if decibels are measured at 90 or higher. Users can also open the app to get a reading if they simply want to measure their current environment.
