Empower Flint is a brand new app tool that is designed to make it a little bit easier for people living in the town of Flint, Michigan -- which has suffered from a drinking water contamination crisis in recent times -- to navigate the resources available at their disposal.
Developed by a group of researchers at Michigan State University, this app tool offers residents with a step-by-step list of the actions they need to prioritize in order to protect themselves and their families in response to the water crisis. The app offers everything from push notifications to assist with boiling water to nutrition tips to limit exposure to lead, which was responsible for the water contamination.
Ultimately, this app tool makes it easier for Flint residents to get some relief while they go about getting clean water inside their systems.
