Climate Relief Temporary Homes

AM Homes are a Great Housing Solution in Response to Climate Change

Recent floods in British Columbia have resulted in the displacement of hundreds of residents. At this time, when homes were left wrecked and inhabitable, residents turned towards city officials in hopes of getting aid. As the city slowly begins to repair the damage, there is an urgent requirement for temporary housing. One effective solution seemed to be additive manufacturing.

Twente Additive Manufacturing teamed up with the University of British Columbia to build 20x printed concrete homes for the residents who were left homeless. In the meantime, the city raised funds to support this initiative. Twente claims they can create one house per day given current printing rates.

This temporary solution will solve the current housing crisis and can be reused as affordable housing once residents return to their original homes.
