Nevada transportation regulators granted Autonomous Vehicle Network Company permits allowing Tesla, Waymo and Uber to charge for robotaxi rides in Clark County, including Las Vegas. The approvals move autonomous ride services further into commercial operation, with each company receiving authorization for sizable driverless fleets.
Tesla received permission to deploy up to 5,000 robotaxis over the next 12 months and can expand elsewhere in Nevada by notifying regulators. The company is also developing emergency-response guidance for first responders. Waymo was approved for up to 1,000 paid robotaxis after receiving permission in July to operate fully autonomously in Las Vegas. Uber likewise received approval for 1,000 robotaxis, which it plans to operate with Zoox and Motional.
For residents and visitors, the permits expand access to paid autonomous transportation while accelerating Nevada’s role as a testing ground for large-scale commercial robotaxi deployment.
