Revived Mid-Century Homes

This Eichler Home Expansion Stays True to the Mid-Century Structure

This mid-century Eichler home recently got an update, courtesy of Klopf Architecture. The owners of this cozy home in Palo Alto found themselves in need of more room to spread out and while tacking on some extra square footage is easy, the challenge involved staying true to the original look and feel of the home.

The new space accommodates a bathroom, a bedroom and an atrium clad in a warm wood paneling. Keeping true to the mid-century style of the exterior, the interior of the house carries through the same finishes and materials, making it seem as though the addition was always a part of the original structure. In addition to more space, the expanded portion of the house also introduced more light into the foyer, which make the home much more welcoming.
