Modern Concrete Hayfield Homes

Omer Arbel Designs the 75.9 House in the Canadian Pacific Northwest

Canadian designer Omer Arbel is the creative mind behind the 75.9 house, which is his latest architectural project. The lush family home rests in a hayfield within the Canadian Pacific Northwest. It is constructed using concrete and is defined by the iconic trumpet-shaped columns.

To create these sections, the designer let go of control and allowed the materials to take charge and naturally create the forms. As a result, it takes on a unique fusion of materials and structure. Arbel notes, “For 15 years, we’ve developed a method of working with materials at the scale of an object. This is the first project where we’ve had the opportunity to apply that same methodology at the scale of architecture.”
