The Huawei P20 Pro currently has one of the most impressive cameras in the smartphone market, but Xiaomi is hoping to end its reign with the release of a 48-megapixel phone camera. While Xiaomi has declined to release too many details about the 48-megapixel phone camera, the tech company has noted this camera would set a new record for the highest megapixel count on a smartphone.
The current record held by a smartphone is the Nokia 1020, which featured 41 megapixels. Even the current smartphone photography giants, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro both only contained 40-megapixel primary lenses.
The phone containing the 48-megapixel phone camera is slated to release in January 2019.
