Snapchat released their 3D World Lenses a few months ago, and now the ephemeral and extremely popular social media platform has announced that advertisers, too, will be able to get in on the 3D augmented reality action. Earlier on this month, the company also announced a feature to create 3D Bitmoji avatars. This demonstrates how newer advancements in photography technology are becoming more mainstream through popular and accessible mobile apps.
The new Snapchat feature would enable advertisers to create lenses where people could put 3D items into their snaps. As Fast Company points out, this means "advertisers not only serve us ads on all of our screens but now they are embedded into the very pictures we take" with Snapchat 3D World Lenses.
