Prior to today's Apple event, 9to5Mac announced one of the many leaked iOS 11 features includes the ability to send 3D animated emoji you can create with your face. The new iPhone 8 feature -- dubbed Animoji -- uses facial recognition software to enable users to make "custom animated messages that use your voice and reflect your facial expressions." Animoji follows the immense popularity of Snapchat filters and similar face-transforming features on other social media apps and messaging platforms.
To use the 3D animated emoji, you simply open iMessage and pick an existing emoticon from the keyboard (including favorites like the unicorn, monkey and poop emojis) and the three dimensional face-tracking technology will do the rest.
