As the September 2016 makeup trends reveal, millennial preferences are causing a rising demand for both ethical cosmetics and products developed by online influencers. Unlike generations before them, it appears that consumers are now more concerned about what goes into their makeup and who is behind the latest products.
To meet the demand for ethical makeup products, many brands are opting for vegan formulas made from more natural ingredients. For instance, The Body Shop recently debuted an eight-shade eyeshadow palette made entirely from plant-based ingredients. Similarly, Fable Naturals has created a line of lip balms that are 100 percent compostable.
In addition to looking for more natural makeup options, millennial consumers are also looking for products that help them connect with their favorite online influencers. As a result, brands are teaming up with young influencers such as Bunny Meyer, NikkieTutorials and Hailey Baldwin to create Instagram-worthy cosmetics collections.
