Pizza delivery services are the lifeblood of modern Western society, and the occasion of National Pizza Day is as good a time as any to contemplate how modern technology has completely revamped our pizza delivery rituals.
Back in the day, ordering a pizza necessitated that you own a device called a landline telephone. You would dial the number of a nearby pizza outlet, look at your paper menu and request items that would then be delivered to your door.
These days however, pizza delivery has been made ridiculously simple and efficient with the use of apps, online ordering interfaces and delivery options that literally take a couple of clicks. It doesn't end there however, since next-generation pizza deliveries will comprise autonomous drones flying over and delivering pizza to you.
