Since we first etched them into the walls of our caves, portraits have been an element of the human home.
This cluster brings together some of the most fascinating portraits being created by modern artists, from eco portraits made of junkmail to untooned digital portraits and even self-kissing portraits.
Although we have come a long way since ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics or portraits of ancient Greek warriors, we continue to create art reflecting the people we admire.
These days, it seems the person many people most admire is themselves. This gallery also speaks to that narcissistic movement.
