22 DIY Furniture Finds

From Stencil Seating to Table Robots

— November 4, 2011 — Art & Design
DIY furniture innovations have a way of capturing the imagination of the creator and the viewer, and these definitely do not disappoint. These innovations are sure to capture your imagination and make you wonder about your own furniture building abilities.

The DIY furniture innovations that I find most interesting involve taking IKEA products and creating—or “hacking”—something new. This movement has grown and even has an official fan club. Specifically, robotic IKEA furniture is an idea that definitely stands out and would be interesting to see in person.

Implications - DIY furniture innovations are becoming prominent because they allow people to imbue part of themselves into their purchases. This process of creation is tremendously fulfilling for the creator. Companies should think about how they can transform the role of their consumers into co-creators.
