15 Diverse Models in Fashion Ads

From Inspiring Red Runway Shows to Untouched Underwear Ads

These campaigns and images are representative of a shift in the fashion world to represent more diverse models and the efforts are coming from some major players in the industry.

Some of the most notable efforts this year include Barneys New York's Spring 2014 campaign, which features dozens of transgender models and Debenhams' 'High Summer Lookbook,' with a mix of models who are amputees, Paralympians, elderly and plus-sized women. These campaigns are truly refreshing in that they are from major retailers that are choosing to realistically represent a broader spectrum of people in the world in advertisements.

New York Fashion Week this year also saw some unconventional models on the runway, including Lindsey Vonn who walked the Heart Truth Red Dress 2014 show on crutches and Danielle Sheypuk who stunned at the Carrie Hammer fashion show in her wheelchair, proving that people with disabilities are consumers of fashion too.
