In her talk about motherhood and entrepreneurship, Neela Kaushik explained how she used her expertise in digital media to create an exclusive community online for other mothers.
The speaker tells her own story and how her primary identity used to be as a mother until friend asked her what was next. This made her reassess and realize how important it was for her to go after her dreams.
The talk about motherhood explains how there is collective depression among women due to identity crisis. Even though 'mompreneurs' are more educated, have more opportunity and are widely networked, pursuing their dreams results in a disturbed balance in their lives. Kaushik's answer was to establish an online community exclusively for moms who spend a lot of time in the evenings unwinding. It acts as emotional anchorage, makes information accessible to them, allows them 'me' time, promotes events and participation in community activities and politics.
