How do you define cool?
When you walk into a room and you are taken over by visual excitement. Even if it is something you would never wear or put in your home, something can be "cool" simply because it makes your imagination go wild.
What is your secret to uncovering trends?
Don't plan to find trends. Simply go out and explore. It's wonderful how easy it becomes to find trends when you let go and involve yourself in the lifestyles of new places and create relationships with all types of people.
What is your favorite trend?
Gothic glam or scientific and medicinal influences on housewares (tough choice)
How do you reset to be creative?
Option 1: Go for a walk or run through the city. Come home and let every thought from the trip flow from your pen to your paper. Option 2: If laziness is the route of choice, get a glass of wine and fat cigar and let go for a minute or six. Creativity is sure to follow. Option 3: Watch foreign films without the captions. Option 4: Go somewhere to people watch. Take a sketchbook and do fast gestural sketches. Even if they look terrible these sketches always inspire me in some way.
What inspires or excites you?
New projects. Old homes. Flamboyant character. Cultural traditions. Travel (or at least the thought of it).
Predict something awesome for 2020?
I will be a millionaire (No one ever said it had to be a realistic prediction).
