Balbek Bureau Renovates a Home in Ukraine with Steel and Concrete

Architecture design studio Balbek Bureau renovates a home in Ukraine using stainless steel and concrete materials to construct its own modern interpretation of a log cabin. The home has three bedrooms and is created with stacked horizontal logs that can be seen throughout the interior space. Other than this open look, the home is adorned with bespoke furniture pieces and micro cement flooring for a contemporary juxtaposing theme.

Balbek Bureau explains the design to Dezeen, stating that "The pre-existing interior was in a classic log cabin style. The logs were a lighter shade, closer to the natural wood color – the furniture was mostly made of wood as well with traditional country-style shapes dominating the interior. Our goal was to achieve a clean geometry of the space with as little extra lines as possible."
