South African photographer/artist Zwelethu Mthethwa ‘Inner Views’ series documents his native country’s homes and inhabitants in a stark yet vibrant way. Highly saturated, his powerful images have even more impact at Harlem’s Studio Museum where his prints will be shown on a large-scale.
Divided into three categories—Interiors, Empty Beds and Common Grounds—Zwelethu Mthethwa shares an intimate look into the lives of a select few. As a trained painter, he is able to create a story through the manipulation of color and composition, which lends to a stronger connection to each life depicted.
