The admin building at the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University features contrasting materials, making it stand out on campus.
The design has a recessed glass facade, with a porous stone-like material covering half of the outside section. This juxtaposing look almost makes the building appear as if the stone has come to life, slowly etching its way across the structure's surface. The design was done by Aedas architecture firm, who wanted to create something inspired by the stones found in this region of China.
Inside the admin building, students can find help with their studies, recreational facilities and study areas for anyone looking for a place to go other than the library. The university also works in tandem with Liverpool University located in England. Perhaps this counterpart will adopt a similar contrasting building design?
