Refurbished Luxury Hotels

The Wuyuan Skywells Hotel Retains the Original Facade of an Old Building

Luxury hotels often employ cutting edge, modern architecture in the design of their buildings, but the Wutuan Skywells hotel takes a completely opposite strategy. Rather than designing a building from scratch, the Wuyuan Skywells hotel is built within the original facade of a 300-year-old mansion on the outskirts of the town, leaning into the buildings history instead of working to efface it.

Part of the appeal of the refurbishment, which was taken on by architecture and desi studio anySCALE, is that the luxury hotel continues to fit in with the other homes and businesses in the historic town. While many modern hotels are attractive in a vacuum, they can often clash with the designs of the buildings that surround them. The Wuyuan Skywells hotel skirts this issue completely.
