Historic District Hotels

Blue Architecture Studio Converts a Yangzhou District into a Hotel

Blue Architecture Studio converts a Yangzhou district into a hotel by repurposing a cluster of heritage buildings and weaving them into a unified hospitality destination. The project retains original architectural elements such as traditional brickwork, timber framing and pitched roofs while introducing contemporary interventions like glass connectors, steel framing and modern circulation routes. Public courtyards and landscaped passages link interior spaces with exterior environments and encourage guests to explore the historic fabric from multiple viewpoints.

The adaptive reuse strategy places emphasis on longevity and cultural continuity by preserving existing structures rather than demolishing them. The design respects the district’s character while introducing new functions, circulation and amenities that elevate the guest experience without overshadowing the historic context.
