Hive-Like Pavilions

Wolfgang Buttress is Set to Build the UK Pavilion for Expo Milan

Wolfgang Buttress is set to build the UK Pavilion in Milan for the 2015 expo, with the overall theme for the event as "feeding the planet, energy for life." As such, the artist has gone with a beehive-like structure that draws the attention towards the similarities between these animals and humans.

"Visitors are able to occupy this internal sphere, and experience aspects of a live beehive through the pavilion’s architectural qualities. Vibrations and pulsing lights activate the space, and are informed by real-time inputs from a group of the honey producing insects," as stated on DesignBoom. This is a distinct interpretation of the expo's theme, and will provide a surreal experience for those attending. It's not often one can say that they know what it feels like to be trapped inside a beehive.
