The Willow Play Cafe Combines Play Spaces and Dining in Toronto

— February 22, 2026 — Art & Design
The Willow Play Cafe is a family-oriented café and play space in Toronto designed by Denizens of Design and DS Studio to support children’s activity alongside relaxed dining. The interior is conceived as a soft, nature-inspired environment that allows parents and children to share the same space without separating play from everyday routines.

The layout integrates a café seating area with dedicated play zones, using curved forms and low partitions to maintain visibility across the interior. Play elements are embedded into the architecture rather than added as standalone equipment, encouraging open-ended interaction. Materials such as light timber, pastel finishes, and textured surfaces create a calm atmosphere while remaining durable for high use. There is also built-in seating, rounded joinery, and child-scaled details are used throughout to reduce visual clutter and sharp edges.
